New Surgical Outcome Risk Tool

A new surgical risk prediction tool has been developed as part of a collaborative effort between researchers from NCEPOD and the UCL/UCLH Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe).

The Surgical Outcome Risk Tool (SORT) allows rapid and simple data entry and provides a percentage 30-day mortality risk for adult inpatients undergoing non-cardiac, non-neurological surgery.

This work represents the largest analysis of risk prediction tools in a UK cohort of patients undergoing inpatient surgery in multiple surgical specialties (at the time of publication).
