NIAA Vacancy: Board Chair

National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA) Board Chair

We are inviting applications for the role of Chair of the NIAA Board, which will become vacant in July 2018.

The post holder will oversee the strategic direction of the NIAA and provide leadership for all aspects of NIAA work. An understanding and support of the NIAA Aims, Strategy, Vision & Mission is essential for this role.

The successful applicant will need to be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with NIAA funding partners to strategically support research in national priority areas. As well as working with other major funders such as MRC, NIHR, and the Wellcome Trust to explore funding opportunities.

The appointment is a three-year fixed term contract subject to review by the RCoA Council and is renewable for a further three-year term on the agreement of the NIAA Board. The Board Chair is also a voting member of the NIAA Research Council.

There are four scheduled NIAA Board meetings per year, and the post-holder will also be expected to attend NIAA Research Council meetings - of which there are two per year.

The role will formally commence in July 2018, and a handover with the outgoing Board Chair is scheduled for May-June 2018. There is no direct remuneration for this role however all reasonable expenses will be covered by the RCoA.
